Verizon Recognizes MET for Energy Efficiency Program
ADDED: 11/25/2008 2:17:00 PM

MET is now recognized as a Verizon ITL that is certified to conduct energy efficiency testing on telecom products purchased by Verizon. MET currently evaluates the products to the VZ.TPR.9205 document. As a result, a Telecommunication Equipment Energy Efficiency Rating (T.E.E.E.R) is obtained for the product. Verizon will require this rating on all applicable products purchased by Jan 2009. The products currently covered are AC and DC powered equipment, Customer Premise Equipment (external power adaptors), Data Center Equipment and Transport Equipment. AT&T and Quest are waiting for A.T.I.S (Alliance for Telecommunication Industry Solutions) to complete an energy efficiency standard for telecom products and they plan to adopt it as a requirement for the telecom products that they purchase.
